An Invitation to Young Canadians

It is interesting to look at the different perspectives of the various age groups across Canada. The older age groups seem very interested in pensions and medicare. The middle age groups appear to have a greater interest in taxes, job stability, law and order and day care. Younger age groups express a much more diverse range of interests. This broad range of interests may be attributed to computers and the vast store of information that our younger people seem to have at their fingertips.

In any event nothing is more important to young Canadians than the future of Canada. Young Conservatives want responsible government, careful fiscal management and social programs that emphasize the family but they also want much more. They also want good environmental management, an emphasis on respect for the diverse ethnic communities that make up Canada and a foreign policy that respects a diversity of foreign cultures but stands up for the rights and freedoms we enjoy in Canada.

Our young Canadians also understand that to move forward and excel in a competitive world economy we need a very high quality educational environment and serious programs of research and development. These people also know that Canada must make a very heavy investment in the education and development of our people. They also have a solid grasp of the need to take responsibility for their own future and the future of Canada.

If we are to move the Conservative vision forward and meet the needs of young Canadians we need the participation and involvement of our younger age groups in the political policy development process. Yes, it sounds boring. The reality is quite different. The exchange of ideas, "thinking outside the box", projecting into the future, examining where you want Canada to go over the next several generations are all areas of great intellectual stimulation. Personal involvement in the "head game" can be much more than just fun. It is the forward thinking of our young citizens that charts the course for the future of the nation. Get involved with the Conservative, Chilliwack - Fraser Canyon, Electoral District Association and put your thoughts and ideas forward. You can and will make a difference.
